“The Water Carries Us” explores how African & Afro-Native people have been impacted by colonialism, forced removal of ancestral lands, and enslavement. Engaging with materials voices the memories that I have with my ancestral homelands, water, ancestral cosmologies, and the communities that nourished me. Through connecting with traditional ways of creating and embodying  Afro-Indigenous mythologies, allows the opportunity to transcend time, space and visualize the stories that have been washed out in the framework of America.
